Primer and Indian cap
Primer and Indian cap
Auxiliary equipment of cathodic protection / primer and Indian cap systems:
The places where the cable is connected to the protected structure and buried in the electrolyte are more vulnerable to corrosion than other places because of the current flow in this place. Primer and Indian cap are used to restore the cover of the above area. Primers and india caps are made of petroleum-based materials.
Primers are available in two liter (liquid) and spray types and are used.
Indian Cap is available in two types, simple and IP (with internal primer).
To restore the coating, first clean the welding area with a wire brush and degrease it with a suitable solution. Then the primer is applied on the boil (usually “liquid” is applied with a brush), then Indian Cap (according to the manufacturer’s instructions) is placed on the boil with semi-warm Primus.
An environment whose cover has been removed. It should be completely covered with primer up to 5 mm on each side.
If Hindicap IP is used, there is no need to use primer.
